Website update

I moved my site again. From a self written Flask Application back again to a static site rendred by Hugo. I could have implemented addition features, but I found a couple sites going from dynamic to static rendering, that I decied, to give it another go. I also do not post so many things anymore on the website itself, that this thing was more and more becoming static anyway. So I turned it into a repository of information about me and things that I own and use in my life.

Notes

I haven’t posted on my blog since July, as I’ve shifted to using Apple Notes for note-taking and writing down important things. It’s been a handy tool for staying organized, and I now share links directly on Mastodon to keep my website clutter-free. However, Apple Notes does lack some features for proper code documentation, like syntax highlighting, which makes it less ideal for technical writing.

Games

In October, I spent a lot of time gaming. First, there was the disappointing news that Fantasy Life i won’t be released before 2025. We’ve been eagerly awaiting it as a sequel to the 3DS game, but now we’ll have to wait a little longer. In the meantime, we played a lot of Zelda: Echos of Wisdom. It’s a fantastic and fun game, though a bit easier than previous Zelda titles. It was refreshing and cute to see Zelda rescuing Link, and the game mechanics of summoning echoes of items collected along the journey were a great addition.

After that, we dove back into Borderlands 2, especially with the news that Borderlands 4 is coming. I’m hoping they also consider a sequel to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, but BL4 is something to look forward to. Borderlands 2 still holds up in 2024, especially with the HD patch now included in the game downloads for free.

Then, on the 21st of October, the long-awaited release of Factorio Space Age finally happened. After ten years of waiting, it’s going to be incredible, and I expect it will consume a lot of my time in the coming months. I’m going in with a city-block grid design in mind but plan to play without QoL addons, which will be challenging since I’m used to conveniences like auto-inserting ammo and SqueakThrough for easier movement. But I’m excited to see how it goes!

Image Prompt

“A vibrant October-themed scene focused on Factorio. The scene showcases detailed Factorio elements like an assembler and the Spidertron alongside conveyor belts. The setting includes intricate machine setups with a futuristic industrial feel. In the background, Borderlands 2 characters are subtly featured, while a Nintendo 3DS console floats nearby, referencing Fantasy Life with whimsical characters. The backdrop also highlights web development elements with a laptop showing website updates. The overall aesthetic combines autumn colors like orange and red with vibrant neon lights, creating a dynamic, gaming-centric look focused on Factorio’s industrial design.”
